Rio 2016 Logo
This is a video in Brazilian portuguese… (with subtitles), which is a first for this blog, but it's a must watch. It's about the creation of the logo for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
I know there's a ton of controversy about this identity… Watch the movie, and make up your own mind.
Described as "insipid" in Creative Review… after the furore surrounding the London 2012 designs it seems creating an Olympic Identity is somewhat a poison chalice.
My opinion… it is the epitome of what an Olympic identity should be. Elegant, adaptable, recognisable… with multiple layers of meaning and hidden imagery encased in it. A true, classic logo. I think Tatil – the agency who created this have done an outstanding job.

So, what do you think? Let me know in the comments…
